The Cold-Brew Method for Black Gold
Because cold water extracts flavors much more slowly, this method requires a slightly higher leaf-to-water ratio and a healthy dose of patience. The reward is a highly forgiving process—you cannot over-steep it or make it bitter, even if you leave it in the fridge an extra few hours.
What You’ll Need:
2 tablespoons of Mandala Tea’s Black Gold loose leaf
1 quart (4 cups) of cold, filtered water
A glass pitcher or mason jar with a secure lid
A fine mesh strainer
Combine leaf and water
Place your Black Gold leaves directly into the bottom of your clean glass container. Pour the cold, filtered water straight over the dry leaves. Give it a gentle stir to ensure all the leaves are wet.
The overnight cold steep
Seal the container with a lid and place it directly into your refrigerator. Let it steep undisturbed for at least 8 hours (overnight is perfect). If you prefer a slightly deeper, more robust cold brew, you can safely let it go up to 12 hours.
Strain and store
Pour the tea through a fine mesh strainer into a fresh serving pitcher to separate the expanded leaves from the liquid. Keep the finished cold brew sealed in the fridge. It will stay vibrantly fresh, clear, and delicious for up to 4 days.
Serving Your Cold Brew
Because cold-brewed Black Gold lacks the sharp tannins of hot tea, adding heavy citrus like lemon can easily overwhelm its delicate, natural sweetness.
Instead, pour it clean over a few of your pre-frozen tea ice cubes. If you want to elevate the glass visually, garnish with a single slice of fresh peach or a tiny sprig of slapped mint. It is the ultimate expression of clean, effortless summer refreshment.
